FINALLY, MULTICULTURAL BEAUTY DISRUPTS WITH A NEW CHAMPION

Rarely do revolutions begin spontaneously; they often stem from a long simmer of frustration that culminates in revolt. With that in mind, I’d like to introduce THE READY SET, a determined team of 14 members (full list can be found here) behind the Industry’s First Global Think Tank for Multicultural Entrepreneurs Brands, READY to BEAUTY (www.readytobeauty.com). Like no other group, THE READY SET consists of former L’Oréal USA Executives and Global Business Consultants who have united to create a revolutionary new path for multicultural beauty – specifically, the African American, Latinx, Middle Eastern and South Asian markets (ie: Black & Brown).

As Global CEO and Managing Partner, I founded THE READY SET to change the beauty industry, redirecting it to become more cross-cultural and differentiated at every level. And with a background in marketing strategic planning on leading L’Oréal brands including Maybelline, Kiehl’s Since 1851, MATRIX and MIZANI/Softsheen-Carson, I’ve joined forces with the most seasoned professionals and forward-thinking minds in the industry, all of whom gained significant expertise and experience at L’Oréal too

“We believe beauty is bigger than its current incarnation. Beauty is expansive -not just one shade, style, or culture. And the industry has been remiss in its failure to embrace entrepreneurs, brands, and consumers of Culture. Consequently, we exist to make certain everyone has a seat at the table. ”

To that end, we’re deliberate in our mission to upend conventions and introduce better ways of thinking about, defining and activating beauty while redistributing the economics that drive it.

“The business of beauty will be more inclusive, diversified and economically equitable as a result.”

Accordingly, we’ll share our best ‘think tank’ practices and strategies for starting, growing and scaling within the industry because we…

i. …ARE MULTICULTURAL & INTERNATIONALLY DIVERSE: As individuals, each of us brings our own unique cultural experiences forged by our first-hand awareness of the differing needs and wants of Black & Brown consumers;

ii. …KNOW BEAUTY: As industry insiders, we understand the global macro and micro trends influencing the industry, actively harnessing the power of this knowledge to shape success;

iii. …HAVE A GLOBAL MÉTIER: As a team, we have the sensitivities & sensibilities for developing and highlighting diverse cultures ⁠— providing a platform that reflects evolving beauty standards.

By way of our think tank, READY to BEAUTY, THE READY SET has a bold agenda for Fall 2020. We will kick off the season with a series of groundbreaking initiatives, including:

Readiness is the New Green: An Economic & Social Reform Survey– A first-of-its-kind economic data collection for beauty focused on the Black & Latinx markets. In collaboration with Cosmoprof North America, Dr. Brooke Carlson, Professor, The Fashion Institute of Technology Graduate School Master’s Program in Cosmetic & Fragrance Marketing and Management and Around the World Beauty & The Bonita Project. A Co-Branded endeavor with Ivy Digital.
