
You started your e-commerce journey in Newegg Inc. What drew you to the beauty industry and what keeps you here?
–I believe beauty and consumer consumption product has a bigger crowd and market comparing with hardward in electronics, that’s why I took a step down and changing to Beauty world instead, to literally getting ready to develop a new market with my previous company by using the product management and ecommerce knowledges that I’ve accumulated in the past of my career years, and believe that I am able to build the business for a crossborder ecommerce platform from scratch. (Beauty category took over the #1 category sales from Baby & Mother category after a year joining the company)
Tell us a little bit about the Alibaba Group.
–Lot of people thinks that Alibaba is just a ecommerce platform that faciliate buyers and sellers with their solutions, but it’s actually a technology group of the company that aggregate all the data and well managed, calculated and archived to provide the better ecosystem and BI to connect buyers and sellers in the most effecient ways than the traditional shopping.
Describe the Alibaba Group in 3 words.
–Efficient, Innovative and Solution
Please explain the difference between T-mall and Alibaba.
–Alibaba is mainly for B2B users for connecting raw materials or generic products/ Tmall on the other hand is specializing for B2C brands and consumers, to combine the entertainment, social networking and ecommerce all together.
Most Americans still don’t realize the massiveness that is the Alibaba Group. Why is Alibaba integral to the success of brands?
–Alibaba is not only providing a marketplace for sellers to meet buyers, but it’s an ecosystem connecting the digial solution to physical operation to provide the effecive access for brands to reach to end users by its technology and numerous data. We’ve combined the entertainment, social media with ecommerce, and support the merchant business with efficient payment and logistic solutions for business.
Technology is one of Alibaba’s greatest strengths. What current innovation can you share that will contribute to the growth of a brand?
–In app livestreaming along with one click checkout is one to benefit and grow stickiness and traction to the brand store.
