What is ColorDisplay?
ColorDisplay is a family business that was set up at the beginning of the 1970s to respond to a market need. Companies with nail polish lines were in need of an easy-to-manage catalogue that could show the real colors of their nail polishes and the founder partner of ColorDisplay, Ricardo Navarro Marín, and his team started to create these highly demanded and specific nail polish displays in Spain. Today, ColorDisplay continues to manufacture these more evolved, versatile displays and offers many more solutions to show the colors of their nail polishes, gels and dipping powder, as a fundamental tool for both sales teams and retail establishments.

Many companies switched production gears during the pandemic. How did Color Display continue business?
Adaptability, mainly. During the months of the pandemic, it was inevitable to experience a drop in the number of projects, as for obvious reasons, the number of new product launches by our clients was reduced. ColorDisplay was able to adapt to the new scenario, through hard work, flexibility and dialogue between all those involved.
Packaging can make or break an important product launch. As such, finding the right supplier can be both exciting and stressful. Why should beauty brands (big and small) pick Color Display to be their partner in launching their products?
One thing that characterizes ColorDisplay is our experience in simplifying the purchase processes of our clients. We analyze the launch of the line and propose the adequate item and service options for each scenario and the specific characteristics of the company and product, generally reducing the buyer’s involvement to selection, minor adjustments and approvals. This allows those responsible for the projects to spend their time and resources on other aspects that are relevant for the success of the launch.
With technology constantly evolving, how does your company continue to be a leader in formulation? Is there anything new or exciting in the works?
Yes. In our market, we must always be alert and flexible in adapting our production processes to new components and formulas that are developed. This has recently occurred with the dipping powder, where we have adjusted and developed our color imitation techniques to also create color displays for this product with complete fidelity. Soon we are hoping to launch a new solution to display gel colors inside the bottle, providing our clients with greater flexibility, and we go on and on!

What did your Cosmoprof North America experience mean to you? What excites you to return this year?
It means a lot in our sector. Cosmoprof NA is a special opportunity to interact with our clients that is not possible via remote channels. It means seeing the market trends, the possibility of detecting new needs and business opportunities, and sometimes merely a meeting point where clients can share their experiences with ColorDisplay and help us improve. I think that returning to face-to-face fairs is important, although the first ones may not be as “exuberant” as they were in 2019. In my opinion, all the players in each market, in general, have a responsibility to reactivate them as soon as possible.
Out of the last decade, what was the most exciting product launch that your company supplied the formulation for?
In 2013-2014 we developed and launched an innovative product that met with exceptional success; gel caps with the color at the top. They allow the gel color to be displayed, providing exact reproductions of their shades and effects with a fidelity that is practically the same as the original color, with an improvement in the printed label that was used until then. At present, it is ColorDisplay’s star product and we continue to expand our market day by day.
ABOUT RICARDO NAVARRO
I have been working as a professional in the cosmetics sector for 25 years, but I have always been associated with the sector for as long as I can remember. My father founded the company before I was born, around 1972. During my childhood and adolescence, the company was located in our home and I have spent my life surrounded by plastic displays and nail polish colors. Given my aptitudes and my talent for drawing, I studied Architecture at university, but at the age of 19, I decided that I wanted to work in the cosmetics sector.

ABOUT COLORDISPLAY
ColorDisplay, S.L. has been the global leader of the nail polish and gel color chart industry since 1972. That year, they first started to operate in the Spanish market. In the 1970s and 1980s, they established their position as a national leader, operating as a small manufacturer of high quality nail polish displays, which were in great demand by cosmetic companies with nail polish color ranges. During the first phase, the company marketed its products for the Spanish market, and began to carry out small sales operations in France and Portugal. In the 1990s, they embarked on an internationalization process that is still in progress. ColorDisplay combines the experience of its founders with a modern, avant-garde, next-generation approach.
