Professor Stephan Kanlian, Chairperson, Master’s Degree Program: Cosmetics & Fragrance Marketing and Management, School of Graduate Studies of Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT)
Professor Stephan Kanlian developed and serves as Chairperson of FIT’s unique Master’s degree program for emerging leaders in the cosmetics and fragrance. As an industry think tank, the FIT Master’s program has organized business conferences, seminars, panels, and speaker series on topics including luxury branding, marketing, retailing, leadership and business innovation, in cooperation with leading firms that include Target, L’Oréal, Procter & Gamble, Estée Lauder, LVMH, Disney, Mastercard, Google, The Wharton School and IDEO. Each year, the program’s graduates present innovative solutions to industry issues before an audience of more than 700 business executives. Professor Kanlian previously held marketing and business development positions in the corporate, public and nonprofit sectors. He is often called upon as an industry expert by the press and an invited speaker by groups such as American Express, The Wharton School, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, and BBC Radio. Professor Kanlian has served on the Board of Directors, Strategic Initiatives Committee, and Annual Meeting Committee of the Personal Care Products Council based in Washington, D.C., and for the Fragrance Foundation, he has served for many years as a judge for the annual Fragrance Awards.

Larissa Jensen, Vice President, Industry Advisor at The NPD Group, is an expert in the prestige skincare, makeup, fragrance, and hair categories. She travels globally to lend her knowledge of the U.S. market to the beauty industry, which includes the evaluation of new business opportunities for top beauty manufacturers around the world.
Larissa shares her expert insights and analysis on The NPD Group Blog, and contributes to major media outlets including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Women’s Wear Daily, Vogue, The Business of Fashion, HAPPI, and GCI magazine. She has delivered keynotes and trend presentations at established beauty events and conferences for Cosmetic Executive Women, HBA Global Expo, Cosmoprof, and The Society of Cosmetic Chemists. Larissa has been a guest lecturer at Columbia University Business School and The Fashion Institute of Technology. She is an Advisory Board Member for The Fashion Institute of Technology’s CFMM Master’s Program, and on the Board of Advisors for Beauty Packaging magazine.
Larissa joined NPD in 2005 following her marketing roles at The Estée Lauder Companies, Inc. and L’Oréal USA. Larissa earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Ithaca College, and a Master of Professional Studies degree in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing and Management from The Fashion Institute of Technology.
