
How did you get your start in the beauty industry?

My grandfather was a chemist and would bring home corroded pipes to explain oxidation to me at the dinner table, I mixed potions in my bathroom for my sibling’s bubble baths, I had a Mary Kay birthday party, and I won the middle school science fair for a project called “skin science”. If feels predestined, but I didn’t even know that jobs like mine today existed. I did study chemistry undergraduate in college and one of my cherished internships was at Quest International, a fragrances and flavors house, which was acquired by Givaudan.
We understand you were a graduate of the CFMM program at the Fashion Institute of Technology. How did that shape you and your career?
I completed the CFMM program, was a vice chair of the alumni organization and now have taught the communications course for the past 5 years, so it is important to me. Through the gift of sponsored education while working full time, I immediately applied what I was learning the next day at work. But what it gave me the most was an incredible network of amazing leaders and future leaders—and a commitment to developing and connecting them.
As the new GM for SkinCeuticals, describe your vision for the future of the brand.
The SkinCeuticals brand is authentic, purposeful and with a distinct offer to our medical professionals and our loyal customers. My vision it to keep this unique position with a focus on scientific innovation, inclusivity and best in class partnership with our medical professionals delivered in a complete ecosystem to exceed expectations of the future aesthetic customer.
Tell us a little bit about SkinCeuticals. Any new exciting launches/projects?
SkinCeuticals is the #1 US Medical Professional Skincare brand and the Antioxidant Authority. We are so fortunate that this year, 7 years in the making, we introduced Silymarin CF an antioxidant for oily and blemish prone skin to join CE Ferulic and Phloretin CF – everyone needs and antioxidant. Also as a sneak peak, we are introducing next month our first dual-action sunscreen, Daily Brightening UV—it is daily protection with powerful corrective benefits in a lightweight hydrating formula.

What is the best piece of advice someone gave you? What advice would you give someone starting in the beauty industry?
Connecting to your first question, my grandfather said to me—“the day you stop learning is the day you become obsolete”. My advice is to be curious—be a consumer first, use the products, read the sub-Reddits, learn about the history and hard work behind your favorite brands and beauty creators, ask your friends and family what they use, how they discovered it, why they love it—there is such a personal connection to beauty.
