
Tell us a little bit about your background.
Originally, I was a classical musician, worked in corporate marketing, and eventually began my own business adventures. I have owned a music entertainment agency, a bath and body company (10 years), and most recently, went back to nutrition school and started The H Lyfe Method, where I help clients get healthy on all levels. O’o Hawaii is really the culmination of everything I have done in my career.
Why did you decide to start your own company?
I’m a serial entrepreneur. I’ve never been fulfilled working for someone. I’m creative and need to see my vision come to life.
What makes your brand different from other beauty brands?
Our internal/external approach to skincare, antioxidants grown in Hawaii’s nutrient rich, volcanic ash soil, proprietary plant complexes, and artistic branding. In addition, our ingredients are “truly clean.”
Describe your brand in three words.
Hawaii. Pure. Integrative.
Without giving away too many of your secrets, what do you anticipate your growth to be next year and what is your direction for the future of the brand?
We’ve completely restrategized and are emerging from the current economic climate with more affordable pricing and key new retailers as well as a major focus on direct sales.
What is the best piece of advice someone gave you? What advice would you five a budding entrepreneur?
If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. There’s no such thing as multi-tasking (let that sink in). Don’t spill your ideas until they’re already in progress. Advice: It won’t be easy but try and set your business up in a way that allows balance from the beginning versus trying to backtrack and create balance after you’re already inundated in madness.
What did your Cosmoprof North America experience mean to you?
We launched O’o Hawaii in 2018 and Cosmoprof truly catapulted our brand both domestically and internationally. We were able to secure QVC, TSC, Von Maur Stores, and international distribution in several companies.
Finally, what’s an interesting fact about you people would be surprised to hear?
While I developed and own a skincare brand, I’m a huge sun lover and surf several days a week!
