Tell us a little bit about your company?

AMBI®, the Skin Tone Authority® has been a trusted name in skincare for over 50 years. AMBI is rooted in catering to the skincare needs of multicultural people with their offerings of cleansers, moisturizers, and other skin care essentials, with each product specifically formulated to provide smooth, even-toned, flawless-looking skin. The brand is best known for their dermatologist-recommended Fade Creams which help fade dark spots and skin discolorations to restore natural, healthy-looking skin. Why is your latest project so special?

The Next Great Face of AMBI search with Cynthia Bailey and The Bailey Agency is a first for the brand. We are excited to have partnered with Cynthia for her modeling expertise as the Mentor Model Judge, and The Bailey Agency for their talent to find the next great American Beauty – both on the inside and out – to become the face of the brand. The interactive #FaceofAmbi campaign and collaboration will work to increase our digital media footprint, but more importantly, spotlight the various multiethnic faces of AMBI. 

What makes your brand different from other beauty brands?

AMBI caters to the skincare needs of multicultural people who are often underrepresented in the general skincare market. The brand was actually started by an African Pharmacist, and today, we embrace that heritage by continuing to blend science and nature to create affordable, high-quality skincare products that flawlessly restore natural and healthy-looking, even skin tones.  

Describe your brand in three words?

Without giving away too many of your secrets, what do you anticipate your growth to be next year and what is your direction for the future of the brand?

Like any brand, we’ve been keeping close tabs on the short-term and long-term impact of COVID-19. The good news is – and it’s apparent more than ever – that the beauty industry is here to stay…and thrive. As we look to the future, we are leaning our focus on building our leadership, catering to the current and changing consumer needs, and continuing to be a trend-leader for people of color.

What piece of advice can you give for securing and collaborating with top tier talent like Cynthia Bailey?

Hire a great PR Agency! Sounds simple, and it is. It’s the expertise and role of a PR Agency to scout and secure collaboration opportunities such as Cynthia Bailey and The Bailey Agency, and we knew it was best to leave it to the experts. Public Relations is the glue that connects the brand to consumers, finding unique ways to communicate the brand story, and promote a narrative…in this case, via Cynthia Bailey.

What did your Cosmoprof North America experience mean to you?

We view Cosmoprof as a leading voice in beauty, and, as such, AMBI is honored to have this invaluable opportunity to share our story to thousands of key decision makers and beauty influencers. From being selected to participate on the panel to demonstrating on the exhibition floor, Cosmoprof has given AMBI an incredible unique occasion to showcase our brand to beauty enthusiasts.

Finally, what’s an interesting fact about your brand that Consumers would be surprised to hear?

AMBI is indeed an iconic brand with a rich history originating in Zimbabwe, created by an African pharmacist. The original Fade Cream is part of a collection at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in Washington, DC. Additionally, in Latin, AMBI is a pre-fix, meaning “both.” The brand name represents our goal to represent and cater to multiple facets of the color spectrum in the skincare category.
